Sydney Family Court

The Family Court of Australia is a specialist Federal court dealing only with family law matters. The Family Court was established by Parliament in 1975.  It commenced in January 1976 and consists of a Chief Justice, a Deputy Chief Justice and other judges. The Court’s goal is to deliver service for children, families and parties through effective judicial and non-judicial processes.

The Family Court of Australia is located on the corner of Goulburn and Castlereagh Streets in the Lionel Bowen Building and is within walking distance of either Central, Museum and Town Hall Stations.

It is also within proximity to major bus routes along George, Elizabeth and Castlereagh Streets.

There are two public car parks located close to the Court which can both be accessed via Goulburn Street.
